Western Colorado University will host United Nations International Mountain Day on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The day’s events will begin at 6am in Western’s Kelley Hall 151 with a Video Conference including attendees from all over the world. Following that, at 8am, will be Mountain Mindfulness hosted by Dusty Sylvanson’s Here and Now Center and Western’s Healing Coalition. At 10am Mountain Service and Recreation options begin throughout the Gunnison valley. For more information, see western.edu/imd. Western Colorado University's Center for Mountain Transitions invites nominations for a "Mountain Leader of the Year" from the Gunnison Country. If you know a member of our community dedicated to the resilience of our mountains, please email Dr. John Hausdoerffer at mem@western.edu by December 6th, 2019. The award will be given at an International Mountain Day dinner co-hosted by Western, RMBL, Vail Resorts, and the UN Mountain Partnership on December 11th at CBMR.
