 FEBRUARY 7 - 29 Main Gallery: “The Odyssey” by Allison Sinkewich The Odyssey series consists of twelve letterbox stills from the iconic Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey recreated in cross stitch. Using Egyptian cotton floss and black Aida cloth, these stills span the film in chronological order. Sinkewich began producing the patterns in 2008, spending the past 11 years intermittently completing all of the final pieces. The series creates a complex and amusing paradox using an archaic craft art form to represent these futuristic concepts which never came to pass.
