 And the Oscar goes to... Those famous words will be spoken over and over again during the live telecast of the 92nd Oscars on Sunday night, February 9th. In order to acquaint yourself with some of the smaller, or shorter films, vying for Oscars, you might want to check out Crested Butte Film Festival's offering of the "Oscar Nominated Short Films" over the weekend of February 7 -9 and leading directly up to the telecast itself. Out of all the short films made worldwide in 2019, the Oscars have honed the list down to the best five in three categories: Documentary, Live Action (scripted and acted) and Animated. One of these films in each category, and the filmmakers involved, will win the Oscar and have their lives forever changed. Come see some of the world's best, most creative short films, decide which one you would vote for, and get a leg up and win your Oscar pool! Showtimes at the Center for the Arts - old building - are as follows. Documentary films: Friday, February 7, 7pm. 160 minutes. Rated R. Live Action films: Saturday, February 8, 7pm. 104 minutes. Rated R. Animated films: Sunday, February 9, 2pm. 83 minutes. Rated PG-13. Good for the kids. Tickets are $15 per show or $35 for all three and are available at cbfilmfest.org and at the door. The 10th Annual Crested Butte Film Festival brings 100 films and 30 visiting filmmakers and actors to town, September 24-27, 2020. cbfilmfest.org
