.png) A 2-Hour Exploratory Workshop Backbends are exhilarating… and also sneaky. In this playful, curiosity-driven workshop, we’ll unpack why how your shoulders and shoulder blades move can completely change the experience of a backbend, for better or worse. Spoiler: internal vs. external rotation, plus scapular protraction and retraction, matter a lot when your arms are moving forward into flexion versus back into extension. We’ll break things down in an approachable, hands-on way, exploring what’s actually happening in your shoulders as you move toward Wheel (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and Bow (Dhanurasana), and why these two backbends need very different prep, even though they’re often lumped together. Expect clear cues, smart drills, and plenty of “ohhh, that’s why” moments you can immediately apply to your practice. This is equal parts education and embodied experience: we’ll test, feel, adjust, and retest so the concepts land in your body, not just your brain. Perfect for curious movers, anatomy nerds, teachers, and students alike, this workshop is designed for all levels and invites you to explore backbending with more confidence, freedom, and a sense of adventure.
