An exceptional quartet — Don Bryan on clarinet, Emily Ondrackek-Peterson on violin, and Jooeun Pak on piano perform Olivier Messiaen’s masterpiece at CBMF. Messiaen wrote his sweeping Quartet for the End of Time while being held captive in a German camp during WWII. Arguably the most important chamber work of the 20th century, Quartet for the End of Time is made even more powerful by its history. The first performance of this music came from Messiaen’s fellow captives.
Co-Artistic Director Dr. Erik Christian Peterson will lead a pre-concert discussion of Messiaen’s masterwork starting at 5 p.m.
This free performance is generously funded by the Film Funds Trust Fund in association with the Music Performance Trust Fund, the world’s largest sponsors of live admission-free, professional musical programs.
